Monday Mahasati Meditation and Dhamma Discussion 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Online

Join us for our Mahasati insight meditation practice and Dhamma discussion via Zoom on Monday evenings (US). The practice sessions begin at 7:00 p.m. and conclude at 8:00 p.m. US Eastern Time, and are usually led by Michael Bresnan. There will be a 30-minute meditation practice, followed by a brief Dhamma reflection and discussion.

All are welcome. Please pre-register for this event (last-minute registration is OK).

Mahasati Insight meditation is a form of Vipassana meditation originating from Southeast Asia. The objective of Mahasati meditation is eliminating mental and emotional suffering through the clear seeing and understanding of the body and mind in the present moment. The practice is based on the teaching of the 20th-century Thai meditation master Luangpor Teean Jittasubho. It uses attention to the movement of the body to cultivate mindfulness of mental/emotional phenomena, both in formal practice and in daily life.

Michael Bresnan is a licensed psychologist practicing insight meditation for over 30 years. He studied for years with Mahasati masters, Luangpor Thong, Achan Da, and Achan Kamkian, and he is the founder of the Centers for Mindfulness & Insight Meditation in Redding, CT, and Wenham, MA.

Mahasati does not require the adoption of any religious beliefs, and this offering is suitable for both new and experienced meditators.
